Roberta Lobeira Alanis was born June 25th of 1979 in Monterrey Nuevo Leon. She went to college at the University of Monterrey has a Bachelor's degree in Arts. After that she continued her studies in New York where she studied at the New York Academy of Art & School of Visual Arts. In Paris she studied with artist Oli Nicole, In Oaxaca she studied with artist Marco Antonio Bustamante. After that she decided to be in Mexico City for a long period of time to explore and improve her technique interacting and collaborating with different artists. Later on until this DAY SHE SETTLED FOR A FEW YEARS IN CALIFORNIA AND IS NOW BASED IN MADRID.
Roberta is not trying to discover a new style, she simply changes it the way her mind works through her eyes. She transforms her paintings on her canvas with natural beauty full of light, color and energy. It reminds us the magic realism, taking our breathe with the vivid colors and beauty.Her peace of work is a tribute to this magic life, to the ideal world of natural beauty and fantastic elements bringing them to real life by using bright and vivid colors which will bold the differences between them. Her goal is to show in her work freedom, magic, dreams and subcontinent phenomenons by creating adventurous atmospheres of wild dreams breaking the fine line between the real and the unreal substituting one for the other.
Real will become wonderful, fantastic and ideal. The crash between a dream and reality, an absolute realness full of symbolism were it will become marvelous, full of light and life where the spectator will want to be part of these forms and colors. Using elements of real time combined with the past and the future and bringing it to the contemporary. Now the old will become modern and at the same time it will transmit authenticity, braveness and vanguard. She creates a wonderful wolrd where color and nature steal the spotlight.
My artwork is inspired by beautiful things and I try to create magical worlds, inspired by dreams, animals ,nature, fantasies, music and movement.I started drawing animals , flowers and cartoons when I was a kid.. There is something unique and special about it, it's about creating the illusion of life. It makes sense to me that any artwork I create should be composed of these vivid thoughts, all this evolved to what I’m creating today, always with a concept of surrealness and fantasy, where so many artists have created worlds in their art in which to escape and for others to enjoy. Fantastic Characters that are always in the limit between the real and the unknown.. As our imagination takes over, we tend to leave what’s ordinary and go outside of ourselves to visit these places.There comes a point in our lives where most people lose the ability to use their imagination and curiosity is no longer there, its as if our brain freezes and we’re incapable of imagining things of another realm, thats a problem with adultness. I want to believe that i still have this capacity to create my own worlds. I love the delicacy of fabrics, the looks of wild animals, the petal movement of a peony and the tenderness of an animated character. I feel my artwork it’s a tribute to wild life, to all these beautiful majestic animals, the idea that someday we will only have them in movies, pictures and paintings, haunts me. I want the viewers to fall in love all over again with them and hopefully create some consciousness about how important they are.
.This is why I paint and what has inspired me over the years to grow and evolve as an artist. It is the constant search for what’s on the outside and pushing my imagination to see how far it takes me.
Roberta Lobeira Alanis, nació el 25 de junio de 1979 en Monterrey Nuevo Leon. Estudió la carrera artes en la Universidad de Monterrey y con distintos particulares.Vivió en Nueva York ( New York academy of art & School of visual arts), Paris (pintor Oli Nicole), Oaxaca (pintor Marco Antonio Bustamante)y México DF por largas temporadas explorando y aprendiendo mas sobre su tecnica con distintos pintores para después establecerse en San Diego California.
Roberta no descubre el hilo negro pero lo cambia de color con su paleta. Lo teje de maneras inimaginables que transforman los trazos sobre sus lienzos en naturalezas vivaces llenas de luz, color y energía. Nos recuerda el realismo mágico, sacándonos suspiros por su colorido, dinamismo y belleza. Su obra es un tributo a la magia de la vida, al mundo ideal lleno de naturaleza viva y elementos fantásticos e incongruentes sacados de su contexto trayéndolos al mundo real, utilizando colores vivos y brillantes que hacen resaltar las diferencias entre si. Intenta plasmar magia. libertad, sueños, patrones y fenómenos del subconsciente, creando un una atmósfera mágica ,de sueños y cotidianidad quebrantando las fronteras entre lo real y lo irreal ubicando cada uno de estos en lugar del otro.
Lo real se volvera fantástico, maravilloso, ideal. El encuentro de un sueño con la realidad, en una especie de realidad absoluta, llena de simbolismo ,donde lo real se volvera maravilloso llenos de luz y vida creándolo a travez del color haciendo que el espectador quiera agarrar y sentir los colores y las formas. Utilizando elementos del tiempo actual donde los elementos de otras épocas son traídos a lo contemporáneo, ahora lo antiguo es lo moderno, lo vintage¨, que transmite a su vez vanguardia, autenticidad y atrevimiento.
Crea un mundo fabuloso dónde el color y la naturaleza viva son los protagonistas.
Mi obra esta inspirada por todas las cosas hermosas del mundo e intento crear mundos mágicos inspirados en sueños, animales, fantasías , naturaleza, música y movimiento .Empecé a pintar inventando caricaturas y flores cuando era niña, tienen algo muy especial y único , siempre supe que esto era lo quería hacer toda mi vida, me gustaba crear algo que no existía , una ilusión. Eso evolucionó a lo que hago ahorita siempre ha tenido sentido para mí que toda obra que yo haga tenga este concepto de fantasía. Personajes fantásticos que están en el límite entre lo real y lo irreal, cuando nuestra imaginación se apodera, dejamos lo ordinario de nuestras vidas para visitar estos lugares mágicos. Hay un punto en nuestras vidas donde perdemos la curiosidad , la imaginación y el asombro, es el problema de ser adulto, es como si la mente se quedara paralizada y no te pudieras imaginar mas allá de lo que no ves o conoces, me gusta pensar que todavía lo puedo hacer y desconectarme un segundo para poder inventar un mundo que en mi mente existe. Me gusta la delicadeza de las telas los vestidos, la mirada de un animal salvaje, el movimiento de una flor, la ternura de un personaje animado, etc.
Mi obra es también un homenaje a los animales sobre todo salvajes .La idea de que algún día solo veremos en películas, en fotos o en pinturas me aterra , me gusta pensar que con mi arte pueden volver a enamorarse de su belleza y crear un poco de conciencia sobre el peligro que corren.Por esta razón pinto, y es lo que me ha inspirado a través de los años y intentar crecer como artista, es la búsqueda constante de lo que hay mas allá.
